You’ve come to the new year and you realize something has to change. You don’t know what exactly it is you’re needing but you just want to feel better, have more energy, and have less pain. You’ve done Whole 30 in the past with success so why not try it again. The only problem is, you’ve followed Whole 30 multiple times and you keep ending up in the same place…needing lasting change. You just want to get off the hamster wheel.
Why Whole 30 fails
Listen, Whole 30 is great to follow, but the problem is it’s just 30 days. When you start that diet plan, you view it as 30 days. You have your “last supper” the night before you start and then you’re miserable for 30 days…if you make it that long. Once it’s over, you indulge in all the foods that were forbidden. The amount of bread you consume the week it’s over should be a sin!
Even though you hated every minute of following Whole 30, you will admit you felt better, had more energy, and had less pain. The few months following the diet you felt like your body betrayed you because you slowly went back to the way it was. By the end of the year, you found yourself exhausted, anxious and sometimes with debilitating joint pain. So why not start the year over with Whole 30 to feel better again and restart the hamster wheel.
OR…you can try something different. Something that will actually last past mid February!
there’s A different way
Imagine what your life would be like if you had the long term results you want. Instead of trying each new fad diet and seeing short term results, it’s possible for you to be done with diets forever and still have the long term results you’re truly wanting. A holistic diet plan is your answer. A holistic diet plan is taking into account your whole self. With a holistic diet plan I would recommend you not only heal with the food you put in, but also heal with the words you’re telling yourself. Your mental wellness is more important than most people understand.
I have a few tips to get you started and start this new year off right. These tips will help you have the energy your are desiring, relieve the pain you’re in, and help you feel better overall. These tips are not hard and won’t make you feel miserable like following a diet will. You will actually enjoy the process and find lasting change. Read below for my favorite tips for lasting change.
- Change your mindset. If you want lasting change, you have to change your mindset for lasting change. View your changes as a lifestyle not a short term diet that has an end. When your mindset changes, you live out your new lifestyle. If you view yourself as the person that makes intentional decisions to improve your lifestyle, change is easier and long term. You must be intentional in who you want to be.
- Take your time. If it’s too daunting to make all the changes at once (which it will be for everyone), pick the one thing you think will make the biggest impact. Once you master that, pick the next thing that will make the biggest impact. Keep going until you are satisfied and the changes have become the new you.
- Know there will be mistakes. Take each mistake as an opportunity to learn what your body needs and change from there.
- Talk kind to yourself. Give yourself grace if you mess up. We are all human and none of us are perfect so don’t strive for perfection.
- Get good at searching for the right recipes. The internet is an excellent place to find new recipes. My favorite place to search is Pinterest. Good keywords are “clean eating”, “whole food meals”, or “real food meals”. You can even search for Whole 30 approved meals.
Changing your lifestyle is no easy task
What’s your experience with Whole 30? Comment back to me with the good, the bad and the ugly of your experience with that diet or any other fad diets. I would love nothing more for you than for you to understand the power of a holistic diet plan and a holistic lifestyle.
After you get started, you will make mistakes. You will have setbacks. You will want to quit, especially when the usually fun girls night turns you into a ball of anxiety because you’re stressed about what you will eat. But with time it gets easier and your holistic diet plan becomes second nature.
