“So be sure when you step, step with care and great tact. And remember that life’s a great balancing act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed) Kid, you’ll move mountains.”
What a great quote from Dr. Seuss!! There is so much to unpack from that quote but for sure that life is a great balancing act. As a kid, you don’t quite know what that means. But as an adult, you figure it out quickly. Especially when something is out of balance. To live intentionally becomes much more important when your balancing act starts to fall.
What Does Live Intentionally Mean?
You know, we say we juggle a lot of responsibilities, but juggling gives the impression that you’re a little out of control. I would rather balance and remain in control. Balancing takes a certain fine tuning and constant checking in to make sure everything is good. You have to pay attention and make moves intentionally.
That’s why I named my business Intentionally Balanced Wellness.

Intentional Wellness
Being intentional means you are doing something on purpose and with meaning behind it. Intentional wellness means each decision you make with regards to your health is on purpose and with meaning. Each person comes to the decision to choose intentional wellness differently. You may have anxiety, autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, or digestive problems that you are fed up with and tired of going to doctor after doctor. You’re ready to take back control of your health, on your own terms. That’s what intentional wellness can do for you!
But first, you need to know where to start and what to work on.
Benefits of Your Life When You Live Intentionally
There are so many steps you can take to improve your health so knowing where to start is difficult. When I got started on my intentional wellness journey, I did so intentionally and intuitively. I was a dietitian working in a cardiac rehab and struggled with gas, bloating and digestive pain. A good night sleep seemed impossible and anxiety became my constant companion. The negativity in my head had become blaringly obvious, so I took the steps to intentionally stop, breathe, and talk nice to myself. Relying on my faith a lot to guide me with the words I needed, I spoke the truth to myself during each situation. After changing the food I was eating and confided in some friends about my situation, it took some time but I slowly felt better and my symptoms improved or went away completely.
I learned to live intentionally. Each change I made was an intentional change for each area of my life: physical, mental, spiritual and social. Each of those areas was out of balance for me, but if just one of those areas is out of balance, you can experience symptoms you don’t want anymore.
Live Intentionally
Health is the goal we all want to achieve. We usually define it as feeling good, not having symptoms (or at least life-altering symptoms) and doing the things we enjoy with enough energy and without pain. Wellness are the steps we take each day to achieve health. And that includes steps for each area of our life.
Intentional Eating
Eating intentionally takes lots of discipline 😐. It’s so easy to just swing by a restaurant to get a meal when you’re running low on time, but that won’t get you where you want to be with feeling better. You have to get good at planning and preparing.
Intentional Mindset
Most of the time, we don’t even know what’s going on in our minds or even how to control it!! Controlling your thoughts can seem daunting but you have the power to do it. It just takes practice. And as with any practice, the more you do it, the better you get.
Intentional Spiritual Relationship
When you’re relationship with the Father isn’t balanced, nothing is right! We don’t place enough emphasis on this area of life! This may be a source of imbalance you don’t even know you have.
Intentional Friendships
Last week I talked about cleaning up your life, including relationships/friendships. Be intentional with bringing the right people into your circle. Be intentional with them. Make time for them and open up to them. That won’t be everyone but you will find, when you confide in the right people and bring your problems and concerns into light, you will start seeing a path to take. You will feel a lightness and feel peace.
